How To Motivate Yourself To Exercise

It’s Sunday and you’ve told yourself you’ll go to the gym this week. Monday comes along and work was really tough so you tell yourself you’ll go tomorrow. Tuesday comes and tacos look WAY more appealing. Wednesday comes and you pack your gym bag but at the end of the day you finish it off with wine, because it is Wednesday after all.

And the vicious cycle continues.

Hey we’ve all had those weeks (too many I can’t count). It can be hard to motivate yourself to workout; but have no fear. I have some great motivators you all can try!

Think About The After

Anyone who knows me knows that I LOVE running. I am obsessed with the runner’s high that I get. I want you all to find that feeling during or after your workout that makes you fall in love so it’ll motivate you to do it again! You all know what I mean. The endorphins you get when you workout make you feel so happy and great. Find that feeling and cling onto it (for dear life). Never lose that feeling because that’s a huge motivator.

Make A Killer Playlist

We all have those wild songs we like that we probably can’t listen to in normal day to day activities (one of mine is “Stick Talk” by Future, it gets me so pumped up during my runs). Make a great playlist that pumps you up and motivates you to hit the gym and keep going.

Think About Your Goals

A lot of what motivates people and even myself are the certain goals you want to achieve in regards to your health. Maybe you want to get stronger and gain muscle, or you want to lose 5 pounds for the month. Whatever you want to achieve, think about it and realize that each workout gets you closer to achieving it.

Before I end this post, I’ll share with you all a story of mine….

Last Monday I wore my workout clothes to my morning class. Once class was over I had a little tug of war with myself about going to the gym. I went through all the motivators I shared with you guys above and I finally decided to get a workout in. I usually do cardio on Mondays so I got on the treadmill with a goal of running 3 miles that day. Before I knew it I had ran 3.5 miles! I decided to stop, cool down, and head out. I felt so great during my run (I was in the zone) and I felt even BETTER after my workout. This is the feeling I absolutely love and the reason why I encouraged myself to workout.

Hope you guys enjoyed this short post on a few ways you can motivate yourself to workout. I’ll be taking a break next week and I won’t be posting because I have final exams (ew) and I have Spring break right after (woo!). But don’t worry, I’ll be back with a new post as usual next week.

Do you have any workout motivators that work for you? Please let a girl know!
