How I Stay Happy All The Time

So many people tell me I look like a happy person, or ask me why I’m always smiling. Don’t get me wrong, I have my days where everything seems so tough (I’m a girl, so it’s bound to happen). I wanted to get a little bit deeper in this post and share with you all how I stay happy so let’s get started!

1. Taking Control Of My Thoughts

Does something bad ever happen to you and you start thinking the worst thoughts ever that just make your mood even worse? Well I take control of that right away.

One thing that I’ve learned is that: 1.) there are events or situations that occur that can make us sad, angry, etc. 2.) our thoughts come into the picture 3.) the outcome from all of that. The only thing that we can control from those three things is our thoughts.

Picture this ,scenario A: a young professional gets fired from his dream job and that really really sucks. Then he is miserable and has negative thoughts. The outcome leads to poor job interviews and having a hard time finding a new dream job. Scenario B: same guy who lost is job BUT he thinks positively and works hard at his career goals. Then he does great on interviews and finds a new dream job!

All I’m trying to tell you is that the way we think really affects the way we feel and if you work hard at controlling your thoughts I’m sure you’ll be happier in any situation in no time.

2. Surrounding Myself With What Makes Me Happy

If I am around a person, a thing, or a situation that just drains me and is basically a parasite I cut it out of my life right away. But do you all know what I mean here? Get rid of that person, thing, (or person), situation, (or person), that just causes you unhappiness instead of happiness. Now in no way am I saying that your happiness should rely on someone else or on materialistic things or places because that’s just death on repeat.

I surround myself with God, my family, my best friends, my job (it actually makes me happy), the gym, etc.

3. Controlling My Emotions

This goes hand in hand with number one. I tell a lot of people this but you really do control your own emotions! If you don’t want to feel a certain way, realize that and adjust yourself and control your emotions (it’s not easy and I know that) but if your happiness is important to you as it is to me, you’ll do this at least once a day.

4. Taking Care of Myself

Putting effort into myself is another big way that helps me stay happy. Eating healthy, working out (because endorphins make you happy) , and taking care of my mental health all help me to be a happy person.

So I hope my post opened up some of your eyes and offered a new perspective on taking control of your happiness. How do you all stay happy? Let me know in the comments section below.
